Janev in Prilep: ‘The myth of the untouchables has fallen’, criminal charges against 21 people after the major police operation
The Director of the Bureau for Public Security, Aleksandar Janev, visited the Prilep police department today, after the major police operation carried out two days ago, in which an organised criminal group involved in illegal drug trafficking and economic crime was struck — as the Makfax portal reports.
Speaking to journalists, Janev declared that “the myth of the untouchables has finally fallen”, thanking all those who took part in the action from the Prilep police and the special units. According to him, after the extensive investigation, criminal charges have been filed with the Prosecutor’s Office for organised crime against 21 people, four of whom were Prilep police officers. During a search of a bank safe, more than 50,000 euros were seized, and vehicles were also seized.
The investigation included searches of 37 locations in Prilep, Skopje and Struga. Janev announced that the investigation continues and that the police presence on the ground will be strengthened every day, calling on citizens to cooperate actively with the institutions and to report crime.
The major operation of 30 September began in the early hours of the morning with the participation of special units and uniformed police officers, as part of a wider investigation into suspected organised crime in the Prilep region.
