Austrian MEP Andreas Schider backs ‘Evropska Srbija’ list ahead of the October 25 vote
Austrian MEP Andreas Schider has expressed his support for the “Evropska Srbija” electoral list, during a visit to Vienna where he hosted the president of the Party of Freedom and Justice (SSP), Dragan Đilas, and the list’s candidate Konstantin Samofalov.
“I think this is the best moment to support a pro-European Serbia, because Serbia is part of Europe and must become part of the European Union,” Schider is quoted as saying, stressing the need to fight for “the pro-European spirit and the politicians who support it.” During the meeting, he showed a “European passport,” saying he hopes one day to see that passport in the hands of all Serbian citizens.
This is the second message of support the “Evropska Srbija” list has received from Austria. The first came from Petra Beyer, the Austrian Social Democrats’ foreign policy spokesperson and president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
The “Evropska Srbija – Marinika Tepić – Zdravko Ponoš” list, a coalition of SSP, SRCE and the Solidarnost movement, has been proclaimed by the Republic Electoral Commission (RIK). It holds number 10 on the ballot, counts 246 candidates and submitted 10,020 valid support signatures. The snap parliamentary elections in Serbia are held on October 25, as Nova.rs reports.
