Berisha continues accusations from Strasbourg: Rama has built Europe’s first narco-state, I asked for sanctions against Serbia
Democratic Party chairman Sali Berisha has conveyed, through a video message from Strasbourg, where he is attending the session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the situation in Albania and his accusations against the Rama government.
Berisha said his main focus has been denouncing the first and only narco-state in Europe, which has caused consequences for the economy, agriculture, industry and demographic developments.
“My main stance has been denouncing the first and only narco-state in Europe, which Edi Rama has built in Albania over these years, the devastating consequences of this narco-state on the country’s economy, the dramatic devaluation of the euro and the dollar, the massive decline in industrial and agricultural production, and the terrible demographic shock unprecedented in Albania’s history for centuries”, Berisha said.
In the video message published by the Council of Europe, the Democratic leader also raised accusations over international drug trafficking, in which, according to him, Albania is one of the main actors in cannabis trafficking toward Europe and cocaine transport from Latin America.
“Albania is the main exporter of cannabis in Europe, Albanian clans are the main transporters of cocaine from Latin America and controllers of the European market. In this context, I called for support from this institution in the fight against the narco-state in Albania, which constitutes a danger not only for Albania, but for the region and beyond”, the Democratic leader continued.
Berisha said that in Strasbourg he has sought the support of European institutions in the fight against the narco-state, presenting it as a problem affecting not only Albania but also the region.
During his video message, Berisha also addressed developments in Serbia, commenting on the use of Ratko Mladić’s figure in the political campaign. He accused Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić of relying politically on elements linked to the region’s wartime past and asked for measures to be taken against Serbia in relation to the Council of Europe.
“In my stance, an important place was also taken by discussions regarding the fact that today in Belgrade the ghosts of Ratko Mladić are campaigning alongside Edi Rama’s patron, Aleksandar Vučić, and this constitutes an insult, a great danger for the region, a grave insult to the entire civilized world. I asked and will insist that clear sanctions be imposed on Serbia in relation to the Council of Europe, since this act comes in flagrant contradiction with all fundamental principles. Ratko Mladić is the orchestrator and chief perpetrator of the largest genocide after the Second World War in Srebrenica, he has committed grave crimes in Croatia and in other areas, and now he campaigns alongside Aleksandar Vučić in the villages and towns of Serbia”.
