Berlin Process foreign ministers’ meeting, Minister Hoxha: The enlargement process, the answer for a more resilient Europe
The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ferit Hoxha, took part in the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Berlin Process, held in Pržno, Montenegro.
Minister Hoxha reaffirmed Albania’s unwavering commitment to a safer, more competitive and more interconnected Western Balkans.
For the Foreign Minister, the security of the Western Balkans and the security of Europe are inseparable.
“In an increasingly complex geopolitical environment, the answer to our common challenges lies in stronger cooperation, greater unity and a more resilient Europe, more capable of facing challenges. And for us, this has a name: enlargement. Not as a favor or a reward, but as a process based on merit and supported by meaningful, impactful reforms, being at the same time a strategic investment for Europe’s long-term security, stability and competitiveness,” Hoxha said.
The Minister recalled that one of the Berlin Process’s most important lessons is that European integration begins at home, long before membership.
“It advances through practical cooperation, mobility and people-to-people contacts, mutual recognition of diplomas, interconnectivity and the Common Regional Market, that is, through concrete achievements that improve citizens’ lives, deepen regional ties and bring our societies ever closer to the European Union,” Hoxha concluded.
