BIA arrests two women for espionage over suspected confidential data sent to Albania’s intelligence service and Kosovo structures
Serbia’s Security and Information Agency (BIA), in a broad operation synchronized with the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Jagodina and the police directorates in Vranje and Jagodina, today arrested two women suspected of espionage, as Nova.rs reports.
According to Nova.rs, D. C. (46) from Shillove in the Gjilan municipality was arrested in Vranje, while N. P. (50) was arrested in the territory of Jagodina. The full names of the suspects have not been made public.
They are charged with the criminal offense of espionage under Article 315 of Serbia’s Criminal Code (paragraphs 1 and 3). They are suspected of continuously collecting and handing over confidential data to Albania’s State Intelligence Service (SHISH), as well as its branches in Kosovo — the so-called Kosovo Intelligence Agency (AKI) and the Kosovo Police Intelligence Unit.
According to investigation sources cited by Nova.rs, at the center of the suspects’ interest were data on active BIA members and details of their field engagements.
On the order of the competent court, the premises in Jagodina used by suspect N. P. were searched, where electronic devices and other items suspected of being used for communication and the commission of this criminal offense were seized.
The investigation continues, and the competent prosecution is working to fully clarify the circumstances of the case.
