Billy Crystal opens “860” on Broadway tonight: a new one-man show at the Imperial Theatre
Billy Crystal returns to the Broadway stage tonight with his new one-man show, “860”, which begins performances on 1 October at the Imperial Theatre. The official opening night is set for 21 October, while the 14-week limited engagement will run until 3 January 2027, according to Broadway.com.
The show, written and performed by Crystal himself and directed by Scott Ellis — a 12-time Tony nominee and Olivier Award winner — is an intimate and funny account of family, friendship, love, fate and loss. In the wake of the Palisades fires that took his home, Crystal brings to the stage the memories and moments that matter most, reflecting on how the power of laughter can carry us through even the hardest times.
The creative team includes original music and adaptations by Tony winner Marc Shaiman, sets by Tony winner Scott Pask, lighting by Tony winner Jen Schriever, sound by Tony nominee Dan Moses Schreier, and video design by Tony winners Hana S. Kim and Kylee Loera.
Crystal, a Tony and Emmy winner, was last seen on Broadway in the musical “Mr. Saturday Night” in 2022. He made his Broadway debut in 2004 with the solo show “700 Sundays”, which brought him the Tony Award for Best Special Theatrical Event. Audiences also know him from the films “When Harry Met Sally…”, “City Slickers”, “Analyze This” and “The Princess Bride”, as well as the voice of Mike Wazowski in “Monsters, Inc.”
