Bozdo: Oil reserve should be financed from the state budget, all procedures must have competition and transparency
The Democratic Party has filed amendments in Parliament through which it seeks changes to the government’s draft law on creating the oil security reserve.
MP Enno Bozdo says the opposition’s amendments oppose the method of financing, the procedures for purchasing oil and the involvement of private operators in managing the reserve.
“The reserve will be created, it will require from 300 to 350 million euros, and the burden for this will fall on Albanians again! And this choice is not an obligation that comes from the EU directive. Not at all! This is a choice made with the full will of the Albanian government,” Bozdo said.
The Democrats propose that the cost of creating and maintaining the reserve be borne entirely by the state budget, without imposing a new tariff on hydrocarbons.
For the Democrats, the draft law proposed by the government opens the way to purchasing fuel through direct contracts, which the DP opposes, demanding that the procedures be carried out with competition.
