Bradley Cooper to star as Duke in Paramount’s new “G.I. Joe” film
Bradley Cooper, 51, an Oscar nominee, will star in Paramount Pictures’ new “G.I. Joe” film in the role of Duke, the leader of the military unit, as Deadline reports.
The film will be directed by Danny McBride, who is also writing the screenplay together with Jeff Fradley and John Carcieri. It is a fresh reimagining of the story, based on Hasbro’s toy line.
According to the announcement, the new “G.I. Joe” project has been separated from the Transformers franchise, ending the crossover teased at the end of “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” (2023).
Duke, whose real name is Conrad Hauser, is the field leader of the military team. The role was previously played by Channing Tatum in the two live-action films: “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” (2009) and “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” (2013).
Cooper is currently filming in France the prequel to “Ocean’s 11” alongside Margot Robbie, while plot details of the new film are being kept secret.
