Filming wraps on ‘Twilight of the Dead’: Kate Beckinsale and Betty Gabriel in the final chapter of George A. Romero’s zombie saga

Filming on Twilight of the Dead, the horror film positioned as the final chapter of George A. Romero’s legendary zombie saga, wrapped in September in Kentucky, as Deadline reports (via Bloody Disgusting). The film is based on the treatment Romero wrote before his death in 2017, making it the final cinematic legacy of the master of zombies.

The main cast is led by Kate Beckinsale (known from the Underworld series) and Betty Gabriel (Get Out), while other roles are played by Abigail London, John D. Hickman (Becky), Cooper Barnes, Jessi Fisher, Kendra Singleton, Beth Cardwell and Sandy E. Scott.

Directing are brothers Doron Paz and Yoav Paz (JeruZalem, The Golem), while the special makeup effects were created by Greg Nicotero — a longtime Romero collaborator, known from Day of the Dead, Monkey Shines, Land of the Dead and the series The Walking Dead.

The story is set on a devastated Earth, where the last remnants of humanity are caught between warring factions and an ever-evolving zombie threat. Magenta Light Studios (Strange Darling, Deep Water) has secured North American rights and will distribute the film in cinemas in the U.S. and Canada.

“Stepping into Romero’s world is the greatest privilege for any genre filmmaker… it is a responsibility. We are committed to honouring his voice, while delivering a visceral, chilling experience with impact for today’s audience,” the Paz brothers said.
