Brandon Sklenar hunts criminals in the first trailer for ‘The Rescue’

Paramount Pictures, in collaboration with Spyglass Media Group, released the first official trailer for The Rescue on September 25, a western-flavored action thriller expected to be one of the strongest titles of early 2027, as reported by TheWrap.

At the center of the story is Brandon Sklenar — known for his role as Spencer Dutton in the series 1923, as well as the films The Housemaid and Drop. Sklenar plays a former rodeo rider whose quiet life is turned upside down when his daughter is kidnapped for ransom. Determined to find her at any cost, he sets out on a dangerous journey through wild roads, with his daughter’s loyal dog at his side.

The first trailer promises intense action sequences, chases and a relentless battle against criminals, positioning the film as a high-octane modern western. Behind the camera is Potsy Ponciroli (Old Henry, Motor City, Greedy People), while the script is signed by John Fusco, the author of the classics Young Guns and The Highwaymen.

Alongside Sklenar star Josh Lucas, Hassie Harrison, Lorelei Olivia Mote, Nick Searcy, Austin Amelio, Spencer Treat Clark, Tim Blake Nelson and Josh Duhamel.

The Rescue will be released exclusively in cinemas on January 29, 2027.
