BRUSSELS — Marta Kos: EU Heading Toward Enlargement, Roadmaps for Most Advanced Candidates Coming Soon

— The European Union is preparing for a new phase of the enlargement process, focusing on candidate countries that have advanced most in implementing reforms.

EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos announced on X the drafting of new roadmaps, which will set priorities, deadlines and concrete results for the most advanced candidates.

“We are approaching an enlarged European Union,” Kos writes.

“President von der Leyen announced in her State of the Union speech that we will soon propose roadmaps for the most advanced candidates,” she added.

“They will set out a clear list of priorities: timelines and concrete results to help the most advanced candidates complete the necessary reforms,” Kos stressed.

“This clarity will help us prepare to seize the momentum of enlargement and to strengthen our Union,” she concluded.
