U.S. – Trump on Meloni: Our relationship is very good, I have always liked her

WASHINGTON, 3 October /ATSH-ANSA/ – U.S. President Donald Trump has described his relationship with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni as “very good”, declaring that he has always liked her.

Trump’s statement came yesterday, during a press conference at the White House, before leaving for Alabama.

Asked how his relationship with Meloni was, the American president replied that it was very good and added that he had always liked the Italian prime minister.

Trump’s statement comes after a period of tensions and public criticism between the two leaders.

During recent months, their relationship had been accompanied by clashes related to positions on the war in Iran and other international issues.

In July, “ABC News” reported that the relationship between them had deteriorated significantly, while Italian media noted that Trump had previously expressed himself critically toward Meloni.

In the same statement, Trump also spoke about relations with Europe and praised the decision of European countries to put oil reserves on the market.

He also said that the U.S. would not impose a ban on oil exports, declaring that such a measure would not be implemented.
