Mickoski: Fuel prices expected to fall next week, negotiations with Okta for an additional discount
SKOPJE, 3 October – North Macedonia’s Prime Minister, Hristijan Mickoski, declared on Saturday that he expects diesel and petrol prices to fall next week, based on an analysis of stock market movements over the past week. The statement, as FinPortal reports, was made by the head of government during an inspection of construction works on the “Ljubljanska” bridge over the Vardar river, in the Karpoš municipality of Skopje.
Mickoski emphasised that the government regularly monitors and analyses the state of the oil derivatives market, but the final decision on prices belongs to the Energy Regulatory Commission (RKE), according to FinPortal reporting. He added that last week’s analyses show favourable movements on the exchanges, which are expected to be reflected in retail prices.
The head of government also revealed that the government is negotiating with Okta, the largest supplier of oil and oil products in the country, for an additional discount, mainly for diesel fuel and unleaded fuels, as 360 Stepeni reports. According to him, such a discount would be another relief for citizens and businesses.
According to 360 Stepeni reporting, Mickoski stated that negotiations with Okta would make the country, convincingly, the state with the lowest fuel price in the region, and perhaps even in Europe. He repeated that the country already has the lowest fuel prices in the region, underlining that this is a result of government policies.
In addition, Mickoski declared that the state is energetically stable and prepared for winter, and that a new budget rebalance is expected, as FinPortal reports.
