Bylykbashi: People are hired so the money does not go mouldy, armoured rooms with air conditioning
At the meeting of the Laws Committee, the alignment of the law “On the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing” with EU legislation was discussed. During the discussion, opposition MPs raised questions about the effectiveness of the implementation of this law so far.
Democratic MP Oerd Bylykbashi said that, in his view, the Albanian economy faces a large circulation of money of illegal origin. He claimed that revenues linked to drug trafficking enter the country in considerable quantities and are stored in special premises.
“The dirty money, which there is no Albanian who does not know is in gigantic volumes, in cubic metres, they rent apartments, armour them, and at a minimum a room filled with air-conditioning systems so their money does not go mouldy, with people whose job is to turn it over so it does not go mouldy, and large amounts of money even enter by transport vehicles from drug trafficking,” Bylykbashi said.
