Criminal situations in the country, Minister Demo asks police chiefs to implement the School Safety Package

Interior Minister Ervin Demo held a meeting with State Police chiefs at headquarters and in the regions, focused on raising security parameters, strengthening prevention and responding with the force of the law and professionalism to every form of illegality.

Minister Demo asked the chiefs for detailed and updated information on the criminal situation in the territory, particularly in high-risk areas where criminal activity takes place in the field of narcotics and gambling, as well as on locating and capturing wanted persons of high social danger and high public impact.

A special focus was devoted to preventing and cracking down on illegal possession of weapons. The minister asked for the use of police intelligence and surprise interventions against persons who dare to move around with firearms, in order to prevent and strike at this phenomenon.

One of the main tasks Minister Demo left to the central and local chiefs was the implementation of the School Safety Package, stressing that pupils’ safety is the priority above all priorities. He asked for maximum engagement from all structures to guarantee security in and around school perimeters.

Furthermore, Minister Demo asked for maximum engagement from local chiefs, asking them to stand at the head of services in the field and to directly follow the territory’s problems. Service to citizens, behaviour and ethics in communicating with them, as well as dynamically following their concerns and referrals, are the basis for increasing citizens’ trust in the State Police.

The Director General of the State Police, Skënder Hita, thanked the Interior Minister for the support and assured him of the determination of the State Police structures to continue professional work, in close cooperation with law-enforcement agencies and citizens.
