Caitlin Clark’s poor night as Lynx beat Fever 86-66 in regular-season finale
The Minnesota Lynx beat the Indiana Fever 86-66 in the final game of the regular season, a matchup in which Caitlin Clark posted a career low with just 2 points, no three-pointers and 8.3% shooting from the field. Minnesota played without its star rookie Olivia Miles, but still managed to take control of the contest in the first half.
As Bleacher Report reports, Aliyah Boston left the game in the second quarter and it was later confirmed she had suffered a lower right leg injury. During the first 20 minutes the Lynx hit 11 of 18 three-point attempts, while the Fever finished that stretch just 3 of 21, trailing by 30 at halftime. Natasha Howard and Kayla McBride contributed heavily for Minnesota, combining for more points than the entire Fever team at the break.
The Fever responded in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Lynx 25-10 down the stretch, but the first-half deficit could not be recovered. Indiana finished the game shooting 34% from the field and 16% from deep, as poor offensive efficiency and three-point struggles weighed down the team’s performance.
This loss, combined with the Washington Mystics’ win over the Chicago Sky, forced the Fever down to sixth place in the playoff standings, and the expectation is now that they will face one of the strong teams like the Las Vegas Aces or the Golden State Valkyries in the first round, depending on Thursday’s results; the Fever will also wait for updates on Boston’s condition before the playoffs begin. According to Bleacher Report.
