Call centre fraud, GJKKO Appeals Court upholds the sentences for the 16 defendants of Bruno Çobo’s group who extorted €5 million

The Special Appeals Court has upheld the sentences given to the 16 defendants belonging to Bruno Çobo’s group, who defrauded European citizens through a call centre.

The Appeals Court upheld sentences totalling more than 100 years for the 16 defendants, who appropriated around €5 million.

The fraud scheme operated through phone calls made by Bruno Çobo’s group, in which citizens were offered the online purchase of “Amazon” shares, with the promise of large and quick profits.

The investigation into this fraud scheme initially began with the Italian authorities in September 2020, following a complaint by an Italian citizen who had fallen victim to the fraud after investing €700,000 in the scheme.
