“Clean Schools” and “Barrier” operations continue in Tirana, two people arrested

Tirana Police have continued checks in connection with the “Clean Schools” and “Barrier” operations in the capital, arresting two people. According to the police announcement, an 18-year-old and a 31-year-old were arrested.

The two young men had been declared wanted for various criminal offences. Police say the security measure “imprisonment” has been imposed on the 18-year-old for the criminal offence of “production and sale of narcotics”.

Meanwhile, the 31-year-old faces the charges of “organising or conducting gambling activities in violation of the law”, “distorting competition in sports competitions” and “making premises available for unauthorised games”.

A mobile phone with active sports-betting pages was also found on him, and it was seized together with the vehicle he was driving.

“Tirana / Checks continue to capture citizens declared wanted in the framework of operations conducted earlier. Two citizens wanted in the framework of the ‘Clean Schools’ and ‘Barrier’ operations are located and detained.

The operations are against the sale of narcotics near educational institutions and against the illegal organisation of gambling. The detainee in the framework of the ‘Barrier’ operation, at the moment of detention, possessed a mobile phone with active sports-betting pages.

– The services of Police Commissariat No. 3, in cooperation with specialists of the Narcotics Investigation Section, located and arrested citizen G. H., 18, resident in Tirana, declared wanted in the framework of the operation codenamed ‘Clean Schools’. The Tirana Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction has imposed on him the security measure ‘imprisonment’ for the criminal offence of ‘production and sale of narcotics’.

– Specialists of the Cybercrime Sector located and arrested citizen K. Z., 31, resident in Tirana, declared wanted in the framework of the operation codenamed ‘Barrier’, for the criminal offences of ‘organising or conducting gambling activities in violation of the law’, ‘distorting competition in sports competitions’ and ‘making premises available for unauthorised games’.

The 31-year-old is suspected of administering several entities made available for the illegal placing of sports bets. At the moment of detention, this citizen was found with a mobile phone with active sports-betting pages, which was seized together with the vehicle the detainee was driving. The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecution for further action,” the police announced.
