Major fire in Belsh, flames spread near homes and olive groves

A large fire outbreak engulfed on Thursday afternoon the area near the villages of Seferan and Merhojë, in the Municipality of Belsh.

The flames, favoured by high temperatures and strong wind, spread rapidly, engulfing olive groves, bushes, vegetation and agricultural plots.

The fire continues to spread in several directions, while other areas with olive trees and several homes near the zone engulfed by the flames are also at risk.

Firefighting forces and local structures have been engaged on the ground, working to isolate the outbreak and stop the fire from spreading towards homes.
