“Cobra Kai” star Xolo Maridueña to make his Broadway debut, joining “Buena Vista Social Club” for seven weeks

Television and film star Xolo Maridueña will make his Broadway debut, joining the acclaimed production of “Buena Vista Social Club” in the role of Juan De Marcos, as BroadwayWorld reports. The 25-year-old actor will take to the stage of the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre for seven weeks only, from Tuesday, November 17 to Sunday, January 3, 2027.

“I am honored to be making my Broadway debut with the extremely talented team of ‘Buena Vista Social Club’,” Maridueña said in a statement. “Broadway has always been a dream, but making that dream come true while being part of such an important and beautiful story feels like winning the lottery twice. Come ready to laugh, cry and tap your feet!”

Maridueña is best known for the lead role of Miguel Diaz in Netflix’s hit series “Cobra Kai”, alongside original stars Ralph Macchio and William Zabka, as Broadway.com recalls. He made his debut at the age of 10 in NBC’s drama “Parenthood”, played Jaime Reyes in DC’s “Blue Beetle” — the first live-action film with a Latino lead — and can most recently be seen in “Practical Magic 2” alongside Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock. He will soon also join the cast of Netflix’s series “One Piece”.

“Buena Vista Social Club” is the musical inspired by true events that brings to the stage the Cuban legends behind the 1997 Grammy-winning album, written by Marco Ramirez and directed by Saheem Ali. Since opening in March 2025, the show has won five Tony Awards and the 2026 Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album, and has continually drawn stars from the screen: “Suits” star Gina Torres takes the stage as Omara Portuondo from October 13 to November 29, while Yankees legend Bernie Williams joins the band from October 22.
