Committee gives green light to the Bureau and the Justice Reform, Gërvalla: An important step
The Legislation Committee in the Assembly of Kosovo has approved the Draft Law on the State Bureau for Verification and Confiscation of Unjustified Assets, together with five other draft laws that are part of the Justice Reform Package, as Telegrafi reports. Justice Minister Donika Gërvalla welcomed their approval, saying that these six draft laws touch, in her words, “the foundations of the justice system in the Republic of Kosovo.”
“This is the foundation of the deep reform of the justice system, which we pledged to the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo,” Gërvalla wrote. She stressed that the draft laws aim to address issues related to fighting unjustified wealth, the integrity and accountability of judges and prosecutors, strengthening the Councils of the justice system and strengthening the Academy of Justice.
According to Gërvalla, after approval by the Government and the Legislation Committee, the six draft laws are now one step away from consideration in the Assembly. “After colossal, joint and unstinting work by the institutions of the justice system, after approval by the Government and now also by the Legislation Committee, the 6 draft laws are only one step away from the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo,” she stated.
The Justice Minister expressed her conviction that the Assembly will also support these initiatives. “I am convinced that the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo will also support the State Bureau and the Justice Reform Package. Justice reform must and will become a reality,” Gërvalla concluded.
