Competition for the “Tirana Fountain Tower”, Rama: We are practically in a time when needs and ambitions are greater

The country’s Prime Minister, Edi Rama, was present at the presentation of the five selected projects in the framework of the international competition for the “Tirana Fountain Tower”.

During his speech, Rama said that the project aims to bring a reconceptualisation of the area known as Taiwan (Tajvani), stressing that it is an investment by private enterprise on private property.

According to Rama, through the international competition the aim is for the design of the tower and the reconceptualisation of the area to be entrusted to professionals with experience in architecture and urban planning.

“Today we return to doing what we know how to do best when it comes to developing projects of special importance, which for years now we have entrusted to professionals with special profiles and careers in the field of planning, in the field of architectural design and the construction of buildings that have an impact of importance for our cities, an impact of importance for certain areas where the individual development of a property is linked together with the more comprehensive development of a community or of the country.

This is a private enterprise project on private property; it is a project which, because it takes place in the heart of the park, within the perimeter of the private property, where we are currently in conditions that need rebuilding, but on the other hand the construction will have an impact on the whole surrounding space.

We are holding an international competition, entrusting first of all to a wide possibility of choice the decision on how Taiwan will be reconceptualised and redeveloped,” Rama said.

The prime minister closed his speech with a statement in English, saying:

“We are working for a better future.”
