Conservation of the Roman Forum in Butrint: safety infrastructure built
Work is continuing in the Butrint National Park for the conservation and protection of the Roman Forum, one of the most important areas of the ancient city’s urban center.
Prime Minister Edi Rama today shared moments from the work being carried out every day to preserve and pass on to generation after generation this extraordinary wealth of our history.
Within the cooperation with Ancient Rome Live, the Butrint Management Foundation has launched the first phase for the conservation and protection of the Roman Forum in the Butrint Park.
The project aims at the long-term protection and preservation of the archaeological ruins of the Roman Forum, and so far the safety infrastructure has been built, as well as repair interventions carried out on the Venetian Tower.
The Butrint National Park is a protected area located in the south of the country, near the city of Saranda.
It includes the ancient city of Butrint, one of the most important archaeological settlements in Albania, which was declared a Cultural Monument in 1948.
In 1992 Butrint was included in UNESCO’s World Heritage List, as a site of extraordinary cultural and natural importance.
