Conviction of KLA Leaders in The Hague: Parliament Issues Joint Statement; Peleshi: “A Painful Moment”
Albania has condemned the verdict of the Special Court in The Hague, which imposed a total of 81 years in prison on the four former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
The Speaker of the Albanian Parliament, Niko Peleshi, at the opening of the plenary session, declared that Parliament has taken a joint stance on this issue, involving all political forces.
“The decision taken yesterday by the Specialist Chambers in The Hague is a painful moment for Kosovo and for our national memory. Today we will convey a joint statement on Parliament’s position on this verdict,” Peleshi said.
The Albanian Parliament stressed that this decision must be treated with care by international partners, taking into account the KLA’s contribution to Kosovo’s liberation and to the region’s stability.
