Vučić in Ruma: October 25 elections are decisive — he promises a significant pension increase and €3.5 million for a substation
Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vučić continued his election tour in Srem today as the head of the “Aleksandar Vučić – Ujedinjena Srbija” list, as Tanjug reports. He visited the Church of St Nicholas in Irig and then met pensioners in Ruma, in front of the pensioners’ home, where he was welcomed by citizens waving flags of Serbia and the SNS and banners reading “Ujedinjena Srbija”.
To the pensioners in Ruma, Vučić promised a “considerable, large” increase in pensions, Informer writes. He is quoted as saying: “Rast penzija će biti značajan, veliki… živećete bolje” — that is, the pension increase will be considerable, large… you will live better. According to him, pension increases will always follow wage increases.
He called the October 25 elections “decisive”: “Ovi izbori su presudni! Ja polažem račune narodu, oni plenumima” — these elections are decisive! I answer to the people, they answer to the plenums. According to Kurir, Vučić said that while some were blocking roads and stopping Serbia, his government worked to make the pension increase possible.
He also promised state support for building a new substation in Ruma, costing 3 to 4 million euros — around 3.5 million — since the industrial zone does not have enough electricity, bizportal writes. There are interested investors, “from the Swiss to other Europeans”, while the municipality of Ruma does not have that money, he said, calling on the municipality to also resolve the water and sewage infrastructure.
Vučić also announced that at the October 3 rally in Belgrade he will present data on what will be done for rare diseases and innovative medicines, Novosti reports. Context: a 7.5% pension increase from December 1 had already been announced in September.
