Dačić: There is a “silent majority” tired of conflicts and bickering
Serbian Socialist Party leader Ivica Dačić said today on the campaign trail that there is a “silent majority” that is “tired of conflicts, divisions and bickering” and wants to live normally, without clashes with political opponents.
“That is the very essence of doing politics. We will defeat them peacefully,” said Dačić, bearer of electoral list number two, named “Ivica Dačić – a factor of stability,” for the early parliamentary elections of October 25.
The Socialist Party of Serbia is contesting these elections in coalition with Jedinstvena Srbija (United Serbia), the Social Democratic Party of Serbia and Zeleni Srbije (Greens of Serbia). The list represents the continuity of the socialists’ cooperation with their traditional partners, who this time have joined forces under a common name.
Dačić has built his campaign on a message of stability and political calm, in contrast to the tense rhetoric that has accompanied Serbia’s heated election campaign. According to him, most citizens want to move away from daily political clashes and return to normality.
In recent weeks, the election campaign in Serbia has intensified, with fierce debates between competing lists over economic issues and the country’s direction. Dačić’s statements today appear aimed at undecided voters seeking a peaceful alternative to constant political conflict.
