Daut Haradinaj: The Assembly’s declaration makes sense only if the Specialist Court is dismantled this week
AAK presidency member Daut Haradinaj has reacted after the adoption of the Kosovo Assembly’s declaration regarding the verdict against the former KLA leaders, demanding concrete actions toward the Specialist Chambers, as Telegrafi reports.
Haradinaj said the declaration, adopted 13 days after the verdict, would only have meaning if the Assembly this week approves a law aimed at changing the legal framework for the Specialist Chambers.
“This overworked declaration, 13 days after the guilty verdict, only makes sense if this week the Assembly approves the law that dismantles the Specialist Court,” Haradinaj wrote.
He also criticized what he described as “political calculations,” including recent political meetings.
Haradinaj said the debate should not focus on the severity of the sentences, but on opposing the process itself.
“The logic of contesting the level of the sentence — ‘severe sentence or light sentence’ — does not correspond with the Albanian nation,” he stated.
According to Haradinaj, the stance expressed in the protests was summed up in the call: “Not in my name!”
