Demo hosts senior EU official in a meeting: Albania continues work towards the 2027 objective

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Ervin Demo, hosted the Director for the Western Balkans at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Enlargement, Valentina Superti, with a focus on Albania’s advancement in the process of membership in the European Union.

At their first meeting, the focus was on the closing benchmarks of Chapter 24, “Justice, Freedom and Security”, and Chapter 22, “Regional Policy and Coordination of Structural Instruments”, as well as the institutional commitments to fulfil them.

Demo praised the European Commission’s readiness to continue supporting with expertise and assistance on priority issues, while stressing the importance of the pace of reforms and of close institutional cooperation in function of the 2027 objective.

“With commitment, concrete results and close cooperation between our teams, we continue the work to fulfil the obligations and advance Albania towards membership in the European Union,” the Minister of Internal Affairs said.
