Demo–Superti: Chapters 24 and 22 in focus, Albania continues work toward the 2027 objective

Interior Minister Ervin Demo received the Director for the Western Balkans in the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Enlargement, Valentina Superti, with a focus on Albania’s progress in the process of accession to the European Union.

At their first meeting, in focus were the closing benchmarks of Chapter 24, “Justice, Freedom and Security”, and Chapter 22, “Regional Policy and Coordination of Structural Instruments”, as well as the institutional commitments for fulfilling them.

Demo praised the European Commission’s readiness to continue supporting with expertise and assistance on priority issues, while stressing the importance of the pace of reforms and of close institutional cooperation in function of the 2027 objective.

“With commitment, concrete results and close cooperation between our teams, we continue the work to fulfil the obligations and advance Albania toward membership in the European Union,” the interior minister said.
