“Dissent”: Lashana Lynch to lead world premiere of debbie tucker green’s new play at the Young Vic
Lashana Lynch, the British actress known as agent Nomi in the James Bond film “No Time to Die” and as Maria Rambeau in the Marvel cinematic universe, will lead the world premiere of “dissent”, the new play by writer-director debbie tucker green. The news was announced today, as WhatsOnStage reports, as part of the full 2026/2027 season of the London theatre Young Vic.
Written and directed by the Olivier and BAFTA award winner, the play is described as an explosive work that explores, according to press materials, “humanity’s capacity for monstrous behaviour” and confronts ideas of control, complicity and power. “Dissent” will run on the Young Vic’s main stage from 5 March to 24 April 2027, with press night set for 11 March.
Joining the creative team are set and costume designer Ruby Law (RULA), lighting designer Paule Constable, sound designer Christopher Shutt and movement director Vicki Manderson. The full cast will be announced later.
The announcement came as part of the new season led by Young Vic artistic director Nadia Fall, who unveiled the final four productions completing the 2026/2027 programme: the UK premiere of Milo Rau’s “The Pelicot Trial”, the Kafka-inspired “A Hunger Artist”, the new satire “What’s the F**king Point?” and the immersive in-total-darkness installation “Eulogy”.
For Lynch — also known as Miss Honey in the film adaptation of “Matilda The Musical” and the lead of the series “Day of the Jackal” — “dissent” marks a major return to the London stage after a string of screen successes.
