Historically, Los Angeles has held the division title continuously since 2013, except in 2021 when they finished second behind the San Francisco Giants. This season brought midseason difficulties — a weak August at 13-14 — but the team bounced back with an 11-5 start in September to preserve the advantage over the Padres and secure the title.

With 10 regular-season games still remaining, the situation is expected to be shaped further by the team’s health: starters Blake Snell and Roki Sasaki, closer Edwin Díaz, and two-way star Shohei Ohtani are currently out, and the club hopes to have returns in the coming weeks.
