Double-headed eagle placed days earlier on Korab removed

The double-headed eagle that had been placed a few days earlier on Mount Korab has been removed, as the Skopje1 portal reports. In the newest photograph from the site where the symbol had been placed, the eagle is no longer visible — it has been taken away from the location.

The symbol had drawn public attention after photographs of recreational climbers posing next to it were published on social media. The published photos sparked reactions on social networks.

A day earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that it had been informed about the placement of the double-headed eagle on the Korab summit and that, in coordination with mountaineering associations and the competent institutions, it is verifying the circumstances related to its placement.

According to the Interior Ministry, based on information so far, the object had been placed on the other side of the Korab summit — that is, outside the territory of North Macedonia.
