Drone “Spies” Cannabis Plot Deep in the Forest: 37-Year-Old Arrested in Mirditë

A 37-year-old man was arrested in Mirditë after being spotted by drone tending narcotic plants he is suspected of cultivating in a wooded area of Xhuxhë village.

During the operation codenamed “Drone,” 60 suspected Cannabis Sativa plants were identified, most of which were destroyed.

“He was spotted through drone monitoring while tending the narcotic plants he had cultivated in the middle of the forest, in Xhuxhë village. The 37-year-old is put in handcuffs. Dozens of narcotic plants are destroyed. As a result of drone checks in deep mountain areas, with the aim of preventing and striking the cultivation of narcotic plants, the services of the Mirditë Police Commissariat finalized the operation codenamed ‘Drone,’ during which citizen F. M., 37, resident of Xhuxhë village, was put in handcuffs,” police said.

The 37-year-old is suspected of cultivating 60 suspected Cannabis Sativa narcotic plants in the wooded area of the village and near his home.

“Most of the narcotic plants were destroyed by burning, while a small part was seized as material evidence,” official sources announced.

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor’s Office for further action.
