Drugs in schools, security expert shocks: Cases of use as young as age 9
Alarm has recently been raised over a deeply worrying phenomenon, the spread of narcotic substances near schools.
Security expert Fatjon Softa, a guest on the “Aldo Morning Show” programme on Tv Klan, said that the youngest age in cases of drug use is only 9 years old.
“Unfortunately, the number of users has reached as low as 9 years old. There are cases at that age too. It is not dominant, but it is also among 9-year-olds. So ages 10, 11, 12 have begun,” he said.
According to the data, the percentage of child users has risen from 7–8% in 2015 to 11% currently.
“If we refer to some statistics, the number of people, of children, who today use narcotic substances has increased. If it was once 7% or 8%, today it is 11%, and that shows an increase. So this is a worrying element. I am referring to 2015,” he said.
Softa explained that traffickers identify children who come from families with problems, thereby making them part of this worrying chain.
“It has started gradually, because that part where everyone wants to join a group to be accepted, you have to be part of certain conditions. For example, you have to be strong; the group creates insistence to try it. They find the ways, the people who are vulnerable, the families have problems…,” he explained.
