DUI Demands Resignation of Minister Jeton Shasivari Over Albanian-Language Bar Exam

The Democratic Union for Integration (DUI) has demanded the resignation of Justice Minister Jeton Shasivari over the Albanian-language bar exam.

According to DUI, despite repeated demands from students and protests, the minister needs time, consultations, and until October to offer a solution for the bar exam in Albanian.

DUI contrasts this with his reaction to the Hague verdict on the former KLA leaders: Shasivari the “cosmopolitan” did not need to wait — he reacted before the verdict was published.

“Shasivari’s paradox: for the concrete right of Albanian students he demands time, while for a still-unpublished verdict he rushed to take a stance,” DUI’s reaction states. The party recalls that as a professor, Shasivari had criticized former minister Filkov for not allowing the exam in Albanian, but now relativizes it; while on the Hague verdict, when Albanians protested seven days in a row, he justified himself by saying his stance is in line with “European institutions.”

The reaction closes with the call: “Resign, Jeton Shasivari.”
