Duka calls for support for the national team: players’ passports “a tragedy of their own”
Albanian Football Federation president Armand Duka spoke to Tv Klan ahead of Albania’s Nations League match against Belarus.
The head of Albanian football said the team is not going through its best days, but stressed that the important thing is to get back to positive results.
Duka also spoke about the problems players face in obtaining Albanian passports, asking for more support from the president of the Republic.
“The coach is an important part of the team. We have tried to do our best with Maran, looking at his experience and his qualities. The result is not made by the coach alone. Today’s Belarus is not like the one back then. There are no differences between the teams. They are all difficult. To be honest, Albania is not in its best days, but the important thing is to return to positive results. All matches are difficult. It is very difficult today. I hope for maximum focus from the boys today.
We are in a moment of transformation and I hope it passes with as few crises as possible, to return to our European objectives. UEFA never makes mistakes. It is a very good window to prepare for the match.
We have players from the U-21 and U-19 who can make the step up to the first team. We also need the Albanians of Albania, who have had problems when they left. This process is not easy for us. It’s not that we have any support. Getting passports for Albanian players is a tragedy of its own. I don’t know what they do.
I hope we will also have the support of the president’s office and that it will do more for the national team, regarding passports,” Duka declared.
