Dušan Tadić after 2-1 loss to the Netherlands: “We must hold on to the positives — we deserved a better result”
Serbia’s national football team lost 1-2 to the Netherlands in the second match of the elite tier of the Nations League at the “Rajko Mitić” stadium in Belgrade, and captain Dušan Tadić did not hide his disappointment after the match, as Danas writes.
“We have nothing to cry about; we gave our maximum and had some chances. We deserved a better result,” Tadić said in the mixed zone after the match, comparing the performance to the one against Greece: “I think in the match against Greece that last minute spoiled the impression a bit; naturally you’re disappointed when you lose. Had the result been different, the mood would have been completely different.”
He also revealed how the Dutch saw the match: “It wasn’t an easy match for them; it was difficult to play against us. They saw that we fought them, that we cared about the win. They saw that we have a certain quality.”
Asked how much Veljko Paunović’s team lacks to rival the best in Europe, the captain answered: “We just need to hold on to some positives. I think it was a good sign that we can play against anyone. They are a very good national team with excellent players; they all play at the highest level. We must always be maximally focused and do everything together.”
Serbia now face two away matches in this international window: against Germany on Thursday (20:45) and against the Netherlands on Sunday (20:45).
