Election Commission Gives Bogoljub Karić 48 Hours to Fix Electoral List Deficiencies — 449 Invalid Signatures

The Republic Electoral Commission (RIK) tonight ordered the holder of the “Bogoljub Karić – Strength of Serbia Movement – BK” list, businessman Bogoljub Karić, to fix within 48 hours the deficiencies for the proclamation of the list for the October 25 elections.

The RIK found that 449 citizen declarations of support were not legally valid, while a total of 10,603 declarations were valid. The list submitter is also required to provide proof of voting rights for candidate No. 219, Danijela Sinadinović, or to withdraw her and propose a new candidate.

RIK President Vladimir Dimitrijević said that if the deficiencies are fixed within the deadline, the commission will continue the proclamation procedure; if not, the commission will decide to reject the proclamation of the list.

The decision was adopted with 21 votes of the members present. Dimitrijević explained that this practice — giving a chance for correction instead of immediate rejection — was introduced this year following an ODIHR recommendation.
