“Enforcing the laws matters more”, Malaj: We must build the administration’s capacities

Socialist MP Erion Malaj has spoken about the challenges linked to the functioning of institutions and the public administration, stressing that some of the problems stem from laws not being enforced.

According to him, the public administration has reached higher levels than expected, while he criticised the tendency to blame institutions whenever something goes wrong.

Malaj also stressed the need to strengthen institutional capacities, especially in the administration and in finance.

“Many of the things that go wrong, go wrong because they are not implemented. The enforcement of laws, the preparation of institutions, of the administration. The public administration, to our surprise, has reached levels beyond expectations for the training it has.

This also happens because, when something happens, we throw mud at the institution. The capacities of the institutions of the administration, of finance, must be built. Enforcing the laws matters more than drafting them. Unfortunately, there is not enough information, but social awareness must be massive.”
