Eni teams up with Generative Bionics on humanoid robots for the energy sector
Eni and Generative Bionics have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore industrial applications of humanoid robotics, the Italian energy group Eni announced on Wednesday, according to Reuters. The agreement marks a new step in bringing physical artificial intelligence closer to the energy sector.
The collaboration will identify possible use cases for the humanoid robots developed by Generative Bionics in Eni’s industrial and operational environments, the company’s statement, quoted by the British news agency, stresses. The aim is to find practical ways in which humanoid machines can operate side by side with human employees.
Generative Bionics is an Italian deep-tech company specializing in the development of humanoid robots powered by physical AI (Physical AI) — technology that combines artificial intelligence with physical interaction in the real world, giving machines the ability to perceive and move in complex environments.
According to Reuters, the memorandum aims to assess how Generative Bionics’ technologies can contribute to improving Eni’s safety standards and operational efficiency. Another area of cooperation will be the components and materials of the humanoid robots, including Eni’s chemical unit, Versalis.
The agreement also includes options for the industrialization and commercialization of sensor-equipped shoes developed by Generative Bionics, drawing on Eni’s materials, expertise and market channels, the Italian group announced in its statement on Wednesday (September 30), as cited by Reuters.
