The President of the European Commission has landed in Albania for her Balkan tour; Von der Leyen was received with an official ceremony by Rama!

EU integration is in focus. The meeting with the prime minister is expected to last 60 minutes.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has arrived at the Prime Minister’s Office. She was received with a ceremony by the head of government, Edi Rama.

The two leaders are expected to hold a joint press conference at around 17:00. Afterwards, the agenda of the head of the European executive will continue with a meeting with President Bajram Begaj, at around 18:30.

The visit of the President of the European Commission comes at a moment when international media report that Brussels is preparing to be more concrete, with dates and deadlines, in relation to several candidate countries, such as Albania, Montenegro, Ukraine and Moldova.

Meanwhile, several protesters headed towards the Prime Minister’s Office in protest, but the police took measures and set up a security cordon at the bridge on “Dëshmorët e Kombit” boulevard to prevent them from passing towards the government building.
