Protest near the Prime Minister’s Office before Ursula von der Leyen’s arrival
While preparations have begun at the Prime Minister’s Office to welcome the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, several protesters have appeared on “Dëshmorët e Kombit” Boulevard.
The protest is taking place near the Prime Minister’s Office, shortly before von der Leyen’s arrival in Tirana. “No European Union with Rama” is written on one of the protest group’s banners.
The State Police has taken measures and placed a security cordon near the bridge on “Dëshmorët e Kombit” Boulevard, to prevent the protesters from passing toward the Prime Minister’s Office.
The progress of the integration process is expected to be at the center of the talks with Prime Minister Edi Rama and President Bajram Begaj.
The President of the European Commission also comes to Tirana with a plan for a special roadmap for Albania, Montenegro, Moldova and Ukraine, which will help these countries on their path to membership.
The plan envisages priority reforms, indicative deadlines and objectives for completing the stages of the negotiations.
Also decisive are the dates of October 6, when the review of the pre-accession policy is expected to be presented, and October 15-16, when the Union’s leaders will discuss enlargement and internal reforms.
