Explosion at Swedish military training range injures 7
At least seven people were injured in Sweden when an explosion occurred at a shooting range in Carlsborg.
Seven men aged 20 to 30 were injured and five people are in intensive care, and none of them are in life-threatening condition, Skaraborg hospital told the TT news agency.
“I can confirm that seven people were injured and taken to hospital. They are employees, not recruits, although we cannot say whether they are officers or soldiers,” said Armed Forces Public Relations Officer Mikael Ogren.
According to reports, the incident happened on Thursday at around 4:00 p.m.
Skaraborg Hospital initially announced, at around 8:00 p.m., that four injured people were in intensive care, but later corrected the number to five.
“I can confirm that we have received seven injured people, two of whom have minor injuries. They are men in their twenties or thirties. The five people in intensive care have sustained serious injuries, but their lives are not in danger,” said Camilla Silvesse, head of communications services at Skaraborg Hospital.
Police are investigating the incident as a workplace accident.
According to the Armed Forces, the injured are being treated for wounds, including those caused by shrapnel, SVT West reports.
