Israeli forces surround a Jerusalem mosque after a shooting attack
Israeli forces raided the town of Biddu, northwest of East Jerusalem, on Sunday and surrounded a mosque while worshippers were performing the Asr prayers, according to the Governor of Jerusalem.
According to the governor’s statement, Israeli troops surrounded the Abdullah bin Jaber mosque after a shooting attack in the West Bank area in which an Israeli was killed.
Palestinian authorities said the suspect in the attack is Qadri Samara, a former Palestinian prisoner from Biddu. Samara was later arrested at H Clinic Hospital in Ramallah, where he had gone after being wounded. Israeli forces raided the hospital and arrested a wounded person, according to Palestinian sources.
According to reports, the attack took place near the Israeli settlement of Neve Tzuf, also known as Halamish, northwest of Ramallah. Israeli forces then launched a search operation and arrested the suspect at the hospital.
The incident comes at a time of high tension in the West Bank, where in recent months Israeli military operations, arrests and numerous clashes have been reported. Meanwhile, Palestinian authorities have also reported a rise in violent incidents against Palestinians and their property.
