Fears for former Juventus striker Daniel Osvaldo: emergency lung surgery, in intensive care

Argentina is anxious over the health condition of Daniel Osvaldo.

The former Juventus and Argentina striker was rushed to hospital with a lung problem and is currently in the intensive care unit of the Hospital Municipal de Llavallol.

The former footballer’s clinical condition worsened after several days of suffering at his home, and his sister and a friend came to his aid. The timely transfer of Osvaldo to the medical facility in Buenos Aires province allowed doctors to detect a severe pleural effusion in the right lung with the presence of infection.

Given the seriousness of the footballer’s situation, the medical team chose to perform an immediate surgical intervention to drain the fluids and clean the compromised area. According to local media reports, surgeons also removed part of the lung tissue to contain the complication.

The former footballer, now 40, remains in reserved prognosis and his vital parameters are under continuous monitoring. The former striker’s family has requested maximum privacy, urging hospital staff to limit visits to only the closest family members and not to issue official medical bulletins.

After retiring from football in 2020, Osvaldo had dedicated himself to music and later to a career as a sports commentator. On several occasions, he himself publicly revealed complicated moments of his private life marked by the fight against depression and addictions.
