Filipçe from Sveti Nikole: We demand a 600-euro minimum wage; the government must support workers
SDSM leader Venko Filipçe visited Sveti Nikole on Saturday, where he met citizens and farmers of the Ovče Pole region. From there he called on the government to support the bill raising the minimum wage to 600 euros and to help workers cope with the rising cost of living.
According to Filipçe, citizens face major accumulated problems without proper care from institutions. He said fuel prices have reached up to 105 denars per liter, straining household budgets, while there is no support for minimum-wage workers, pensioners with the lowest pensions, socially vulnerable categories or large families.
The opposition leader called the government “an unpopular, criminal, corrupt and anti-Macedonian government,” stressing that the country is being governed against the interests of citizens.
Farmers in the region told him there is no purchase of grapes and wheat, milk purchase prices are extremely low, while diesel and chemical fertilizer costs keep rising. Filipçe warned that if the government’s neglect continues, agriculture in this region will cease to exist within two years.
SDSM has submitted concrete proposals to Parliament for financial support for farmers hit by the crisis, Filipçe said during his visit, as Centar.mk reports.
