Finland clash: UEFA picks Irish referee Rob Hennessy to officiate the Red and Blacks
The Nations League match between Finland and Albania, to be played on Saturday in Helsinki, will be officiated by Irish referees. UEFA has selected a team of officials from Ireland, led by Rob Hennessy.
Hennessy is a 35-year-old referee who has been an international since 2017. He has previously officiated international matches, though mainly in the early qualifying rounds. Hennessy’s assistants will be Dermot Broughton and Emmett Dynan, also from Ireland.
Aaron O’Dowd of Ireland has been appointed fourth official for the match, while Scotland’s Kevin Clancy and John Beaton will be in the VAR room.
The Finland-Albania match is played on Saturday at 15:00. The Red and Blacks lead the group with 6 points, after victories over Belarus and San Marino. Finland is considered Albania’s main rival for first place in Group 1 of League C.
