Fire Service: No Gas-Smell Reports Before the Plaka Blast — Fresh Checks on Neighboring Buildings From Monday
The Fire Service says its records contain no prior report of a gas smell for the building in Plaka, as Newsit reports — a detail that has emerged from the fresh investigation into the blast.
Investigators are examining the scenario that a spark from the light switch may have caused the explosion; the body of the 76-year-old woman was found in the bathroom, Newsit reports.
Ten arson experts are at the scene, examining the rubble to determine the exact cause.
Starting Monday, Newsit reports, fresh checks will begin on neighboring buildings to assess their structural condition after the blast.
