First defeat for Obradović at Panathinaikos: PAOK win 84-82 with last-second three
The first defeat. Željko Obradović’s Panathinaikos suffered their first loss since the Serbian coach took over the Athens giants’ bench — a dramatic 84-82 defeat to PAOK in the Greek Super Cup semifinal, decided by an incredible buzzer-beating three from Cedi Osman, as Nova.rs reports.
Andrea Trinchieri’s PAOK started furiously and closed the first half with a nine-point lead. Panathinaikos woke up in the third quarter and managed to turn the result in their favor, but with a minute and a half left PAOK were back up by four.
After a Lessort basket narrowed the gap, Sylvain Francisco hit two consecutive threes and Panathinaikos took the lead. But the celebration didn’t last: on the final possession, Cedi Osman — a former Panathinaikos player — nailed a fantastic three at the sound of the siren, handing PAOK the 84-82 win and the ticket to the final, where they will face Olympiacos. Obradović watched the final play in disbelief.
Osman was PAOK’s most efficient player with 18 points, while Francisco stood out for Panathinaikos with 20 points and Branko Badio with 17.
