Former Bitola dormitory director sentenced to two years’ suspended prison for abuse of office

BITOLA — Elena Spasenovska, the former director of the High School Dormitory in Bitola, has been sentenced to two years’ suspended imprisonment for abuses of office during her tenure heading the institution.

According to the court’s ruling, the former director faced trial for continued criminal offenses: abuse of official position, forgery of documents, and violations of the law on the transformation of employment relations into regular employment. Behind the charges were unfounded payments, illegal hirings, “four-eyes” procurements and falsified minutes.

The case was uncovered and driven by the investigative journalism of Bitola reporter Aneta Blazhevska, whose writings shed light on the irregularities in the dormitory’s management.
